Kayla Curry

Obsidian (Mystic Stones Series #1)
Hi Everyone!

I'm excited to have Kayla Curry on my blog today. I have to start by saying that I had planned to do this interview TWO WEEKS AGO!! Why am I so late, you ask?  Because her book, "Obsidian, the first in the Mystic Stones Series," looks amazing!!!  Reviews on GR show that everyone lucky enough to read it, agree!  I kept hoping I could get through my TBR in time to read her book before this interview.  Unfortunately, it's still three books away and I couldn't put off introducing you to her.

We met a little over a  month ago on line, in an author group I participate in, and she is super sweet!  Plus she's from Nebraska, how cool is that?  (I escaped the mid-west a whole lot of years ago and am in awe of anyone who toughs out those mid-west winters!)  Okay, enough from me.  Kayla, I'm so glad you could be here today!!!

1. What do you look for in the books you read?

I like an exciting story with well-developed characters. I read a lot of different genres and have plans to write in more than one genre, although I’m only working on Paranormal Fantasy right now.

2. Who is your favorite author? Favorite book?

My favorite author would have to be Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. My favorite book would have to be The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes. Of course, I love the entire original series, but that particular one is my favorite and I could read it a million times.. Sherlock Holmes is perhaps the most amazing character there ever was.

3. What is the best part about being an author?

The best part is having this amazing community of online authors to interact with. Everyone, including you, has been so amazing in helping to cross promote, provide advice, and bounce ideas off of.

4. What is the worst part about being an author?

The worst part is waiting for your book to be published. I’m such an impatient person that I can’t wait to see where all my hard work gets me. Luckily, I only had to wait about 4 months from the time I found a publisher.

5. What do you want others to know about you?

I would like others to know that I am always happy to lend a helping hand.  If anyone ever needs advice or help getting the word out about a new book, I’m here to do what I can.

6. What is the last book you read?

The last book I finished was What Kills Me by Wynne Channing. It’s a great vampire story that is right up there in my favorites. Right now I’m reading Revamp by Beck Sherman, which is another vampire book, but is more in the horror genre. I’m really loving it so far!

7. Where do you see yourself in 1, 5 and 10 years?

In one year, I hope to have my second book out. It’s titled Moonstone and is the second book in the Mystic Stones Series. In five years I would like to be writing full time. In ten years I would love to see one of my books on the NYT Bestsellers list.

8. Who is your favorite Book Blogger?

My favorite book blogger would have to be Robert Zimmermann over on his blog, A Life Among The Pages. He features all sorts of genres and is a great supporter of Indie Authors, and he’s a very good poet!

9. What project are you working on now?

Right now I am editing Moonstone before sending it off to my publisher for consideration. I’m also working on writing the third book, Amethyst.

10. If you could meet anyone (alive or dead) at Starbucks for a cup of White Mocha Latte, who would it be?

I would meet Angelina Jolie. I’m a huge fan of hers and I would love to chat with her and maybe the rest of her family if she decided to bring them too!
Kayla, I'm so happy you agreed to stopping by today.  Drinking a cup of White Mocha Latte with Angelina would be cool, and I wouldn't be opposed to Brad popping by either.  :-O  I hope you'll all stalk Kayla here:
