I'm super excited to have Alyssa Rose Ivy here today for an interview. In fact, she is my very first author interview- Yay!!! Alyssa is the author of the Afterglow Trilogy. I've read Book 1, Beckoning Light - and it is fabulous!!!
1. What do you look
for in the books you read?
I look for engaging characters, new worlds, or
experiences and usually some romance.
2. Who is your favorite author? Favorite
book?
My all-time favorite book is Moby Dick, I’ve read it
more times than I can count. I seem to fall in love with new authors all the
time.
3. What is the best part about being an
author?
The best part has been meeting so many amazing
readers, authors, and bloggers. It’s been wonderful having the opportunity to
share my stories.
4. What is the worst part about being an
author?
As wonderful as it is to share your stories,
publishing your work leaves you vulnerable no matter how thick your skin.
You are open to criticism by anyone and
everyone.
5. What do you want others to know about
you?
When I am not writing, I am taking care of my two
young children. As a writer I hope to give my readers a great story that
provides an escape. Even though I write books with fantastical
plots, I try to instill enough realism into my characters to make them easily
relatable.
6. What is the last book you read?
I recently finished Haven (War of Princes) by A.R.
Ivanovich. If you are a fan of YA fantasy, you must read this
book!
7. Where do you see yourself in 1, 5 and 10
years?
I plan to keep writing for the foreseeable
future. I have the next few years of books planned out, and the
ideas just keep coming. At some point I plan to integrate my background in
library science and law into my writing career, just not quite sure how yet :)
8. Who is your favorite Book Blogger?
There are so many awesome book bloggers out there,
it’s hard to pick just one! One blogger that definitely deserves a shout out is
Julie at a Tale of Many Reviews. Not only does she have a fantastic review blog
but she also organizes wonderful book tours.
9. What project are you working on now?
I’m just finishing up Flight, the first book in
the Crescent Chronicles. Flight is a Mature YA/ New Adult paranormal romance set
in New Orleans. I am also working on a New Adult contemporary
romance and finishing Enduring Light, the last book in the Afterglow
Trilogy.
10. If you could meet anyone (alive or dead) at Starbucks for a cup
of White Mocha Latte, who would it be?
Mm, a White Mocha Latte sounds fantastic right about
now! It means admitting to the closet history buff side of me, but I have always
wanted to meet Franklin D. Roosevelt (FDR) to ask him a million questions about
the New Deal.
