Georgia Cates

What a great day!! Today I have the pleasure of chatting with the phenomenal, Georgia Cates!!  Her book, GOING UNDER, was recommended to me by another author, who I love, and it was awesome!   After I read it I couldn’t help but ask her to stop by so you could meet her, too!  Georgia, thanks for stopping by!

1. What do you look for in the books you read?
Romance, romance and more romance. Although I’m an author, I’m no literary scholar and I don’t pretend to be one. I like simple words about the love between a girl/guy or man/woman to make my heart and stomach flutter with anticipation of the great love they’re going to find with one another. I’m partial to Young Adult because I still consider myself a young adult...with lots of life experience.

2.   Who is your favorite author? Favorite book?
This is a loaded question. I have lots of author friends so this is very comparable to asking me which one of my kids is my favorite so I’m going with my generic answer. The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne. The Reverend was my first taste of a bad boy.

3.   What is the best part about being an author?
Flexibility. My work can be scheduled around my life instead of the other way around.

4.   What is the worst part about being an author?
I don’t know an author that wouldn’t say criticism. Shiz! Even the best authors fall victim to some of these bitter reviewers out there looking to knock an author down a notch or two...or twelve. People can be downright cruel about reviewing your work sometimes. Everyone has their own opinion and it amazes me how some angry and offended some readers seem to be when they don’t think your work to 5 star worthy. On the other hand, I’m amazed by how loving and appreciative another reader can be about the same exact book. Sometimes it makes me wonder it they read the same book.

5.   What do you want others to know about you?
I’m not done yet. There’s thousands of stories in my head that have yet to find their way onto my laptop and they’re only going to get better and better.

6.   What is the last book you read?
The Wild Ones by M. Leighton. Woop Woop. I love that girl and this is by far her best work. You’ve got to get it.

7.   Where do you see yourself in 1, 5 and 10 years?
I’m still working part-time as a nurse so I see myself no longer doing that within the upcoming year. Hopefully, that means I will be able to put books out at quicker pace. I will never leave the romance genre, but I see myself stretching out into different sub-genres in the next 5 years. I’m old enough to know that I’m a different person every 10 years so who knows where I’ll be then. Your guess is as good as mine.

8.   Who is your favorite Book Blogger?
Loaded question again...so I’m giving a list of several that have shown me some love.

Globug and Hootie Need a Book:

The Autumn Review

Super Gurl Books

The Bookish Babe

Twimom 101 Book Blog

Book Nerds Across America

9.   What project are you working on now?
I’m working on Shallow (A Going Under Novel) which is a sequel to Going Under. Payton Archer was Claire Deveraus’s best friend in Going Under and readers wanted her story, so I’m giving it to them per their request.

Once I complete Shallow, I will move on to completing The Vampire Agápe Series with the third installment, “Blood Doll.” After that, my mind is locked in on a new Young Adult Paranormal series. Yay! I’m uber excited about it.

10.   If you could meet anyone (alive or dead) at Starbucks for a cup of White Mocha Latte, who would it be?
First off, you guessed my choice of drink. How did you do that? Secondly, I would have to choose my awesome friend, Amy Bartol. She and I are long lost sisters and we always find this way of teaching one another things we didn’t know existed. Together, we could rule the world...or at least rock it.

Georgia, thanks so much for stopping by today!! I'm excited to read M.  Leighton's THE WILD ONES, very soon!!
